The Pot Brothers

Almost any longtime herbalist could probably share a story about an encounter with the police involving cannabis. Whether charged or let go, dealing with law enforcement over marijuana is intimidating, inconvenient, and often unnecessary. Thankfully, the cannabis community is fortunate to have two dedicated attorneys ready to help protect herbalists like us.

Craig and Marc Wasserman, known as the Pot Brothers at Law, have represented countless cases in California and have seen a growing demand for knowledgeable cannabis attorneys. They offer consulting and representation services in the state and provide tips and advice to those in need.

The Pot Brothers at Law hand out business cards that, aside from listing their location, feature a bold statement on the back reminding individuals of their right to remain silent and how to inform the police politely of their decision to ‘shut up.’

In one notable case, Craig and Marc defended against a female officer who claimed to have received consent to search Craig’s son. After Marc’s vigorous defense, he handed the officer their card, which states, “I do not consent to a search. To any police officer or law enforcement personnel, I am invoking my 5th amendment right and will only speak to you with my attorney present. Please allow me to contact my attorney at 855-WASS-LAW.” After reading the statement aloud in court, the officer withdrew her claim, and the charge and evidence were dismissed due to an unreasonable search and seizure. Craig recalls the victory fondly, saying, “The best day on earth was when we went into Newport Beach Police Department, and they were ordered to return the evidence… We walked out with all of the medication, the chocolates, the money, the phone, the concentrates, everything.”

Following this success, Marc notes that the Pot Brothers at Law practically formed themselves. Initially, they each had their own practices, but after winning cases for their family, they decided to extend their help to the community. Since launching their Instagram account four months ago and attending numerous cannabis events, the Pot Brothers at Law have received thousands of inquiries about cannabis consultations. They understand that wrongful accusations will continue regardless of the law, and their mission is to keep people out of jail. Both Craig and Marc have heard numerous stories of individuals avoiding trouble simply by following their advice to shut up.
