Naropa University

Naropa University draws inspiration from Nalanda University, a renowned institution that thrived in India from the fifth to the twelfth centuries under the influence of Mahayana Buddhism. Nalanda was a hub where scholars, artists, and healers from various Asian countries and religious backgrounds gathered to study, engage in debates, and share knowledge. It was celebrated for its blend of intellectual rigor and spiritual practice, fostering an environment of mutual respect and learning among diverse contemplative traditions. Naropa University, named after the 11th-century abbot Naropa, continues this tradition by integrating scholarly wisdom with meditative insight.
