Lowell Farms

In the spring of 1909, William “Bull” Lowell began cultivating Indian Hemp on his farm along California’s central coast. However, Henry J. Finger disapproved of Bull’s marijuana use by certain individuals and conspired to criminalize cannabis, leading to the passage of the 1913 Poison Act. Despite this, Bull staunchly believed in the right of individuals to enjoy the dried plant’s benefits. When Bull refused to cease cultivation, Finger closed his farm and eventually imprisoned him.

Today, our community of family farms continues Bull Lowell’s legacy, cultivating cannabis with a profound love and respect for the plant, just as Bull did.
