Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics

Our goal is to enhance public understanding of the realm of psychedelics. Through organizing conferences and producing films, we explore the various dimensions of psychedelics within science, medicine, policy, business, culture, and spirituality.

Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics stands as the longest-running annual event dedicated to psychedelic education worldwide. Initially established in 2007 by Kevin Balktick as a one-day event held at Judson Memorial Church, it featured leading researchers and activists at the forefront of the emerging psychedelic renaissance. Over the years, Horizons has evolved into a full-weekend experience, broadening its scope to encompass indigenous cultures, anthropology, public policy, cultural critique, and the arts.

Originating on the East Coast, Horizons gradually garnered attendees from across the nation and international guests from places like Iceland and Australia.

As societal perceptions of psychedelics shifted due to research from organizations like MAPS, NYU, Johns Hopkins, and others, Horizons adapted its programming accordingly. The once obscure ayahuasca even found its way into mainstream discourse.

Outgrowing its initial venue at Judson Memorial Church, Horizons moved to The New School’s Tisch Auditorium for a transitional period before settling into its current prestigious location at The Cooper Union’s Great Hall in 2015.
