Rob Pero, a serial entrepreneur, savvy marketer, and proud member of the Bad River Tribe, embodies the core values of Ojibwe people—love for family, support for community, respect for the natural world, and a commitment to doing everything ‘in a good way’.

The passage of the 2018 Farm Bill opened the opportunity to grow hemp for extracting Cannabidiol (CBD). In the burgeoning CBD industry, Rob recognized an opportunity to fill a market void and to benefit his Indigenous community.

Rob identified a need for a high-quality, authentic CBD brand. He envisioned a brand with local ties that Wisconsinites could trust and enjoy because of its local roots and superior quality. Amidst a backdrop of low trust in corporations and high levels of litigation against drug companies, Rob saw a market thirsty for a brand that was transparent in its practices, trustworthy in its stance, authentic in its roots, and sincere in its commitment to better health for all.

Historically, Native Americans have faced disproportionate socio-economic challenges compared to the broader population, including higher rates of unemployment, lower median incomes, increased instances of substance abuse and drug addiction, and limited access to mental health support. Through his CBD company, Rob saw an opportunity to empower and employ fellow Indigenous people. He also recognized CBD as a product that could provide natural, safe, and beneficial wellness alternatives to harmful and addictive pharmaceuticals.
