Cannabis Marketing Association

The Cannabis Marketing Association, founded in 2016 by cannabis marketing executive Lisa Buffo, arose in response to the unique challenges faced by cannabis communications professionals. Traditional marketing strategies and platforms, including paid advertising, social media, and digital outlets, were inaccessible due to industry restrictions. Additionally, the fragmented regulatory landscape and negative public perception required cannabis marketers to reposition the industry as it rapidly expanded. The association’s primary goal was to unite the cannabis marketing community, facilitating the sharing of best practices and collective knowledge. Today, the Cannabis Marketing Association aims to formalize these best practices and advance discussions surrounding the contemporary branding of legal cannabis.
