Alateen

Alateen is a valuable resource designed to support young individuals who are navigating the challenging and often turbulent waters of having a family member or close friend with alcohol-related issues. This unique program, affiliated with Al-Anon Family Groups, is tailored specifically for teenagers aged 13 to 18. Alateen provides a safe and nurturing environment where young people can share their experiences, feelings, and concerns with peers who understand the complexities of living with alcoholism in the family.

Through a structured framework of meetings and discussions, Alateen offers participants a platform to explore the impact of alcoholism on their lives, learn coping strategies, and develop a sense of empowerment. Trained Alateen sponsors, often older members of Al-Anon, guide and mentor these teens, fostering an atmosphere of trust, empathy, and non-judgmental support.

Alateen equips young individuals with the tools they need to break the cycle of dysfunction, enhance their self-esteem, and make healthier choices. By fostering resilience and emotional well-being, this invaluable resource empowers teenagers to lead fulfilling lives despite the challenges of alcoholism in their families.
